Eurofins makes third acquisition in a month

Eurofins Scientific acquires Bureau de Wit

Eurofins Scientific has bought a Dutch food testing firm to reinforce its position in the market and broaden its client base.

Bureau de Wit is a laboratory service provider for food and water safety testing in the food production, hotel and catering sectors in The Netherlands.

It operates a lab in Almere, and employs 64 staff, generating annual revenues in excess of €5m.

Eurofins Scientific acquired an analytical service provider for the food retail and catering sectors in France earlier this month.

Agro-Analyses employs 157 staff at its site in Metz. The price of both deals was not disclosed.

It also bought Exova's food, water and pharmaceutical testing business in the UK & Ireland for £18m in May this year.

Eurofins said Bureau de Wit’s existing competencies are complementary to its portfolio of services, which should result in cross-selling opportunities.

Existing management of Bureau de Wit remain in place and will continue to work on the growth of the business.

Dr Gilles Martin, Eurofins CEO, said: "This transaction further consolidates our leading footprint to support the food industry in The Netherlands. We look forward to giving Bureau de Wit’s clients access to the capabilities of the Eurofins network to support them in strengthening their quality and safety programs.”
