BMG Labtech has invested €4.5m to expand its German headquarters and double production area.

The microplate reader manufacturer said it has recorded a rapid increase in revenue over the past few years and the building provides additional capacity for anticipated growth over the longer term.

The move is designed to double manufacturing area and provide space for warehouse capacities, research and development and the planned job growth.

It was a necessary response to the global demand for products and technologies made in Germany.

BMG Labtech microplate readers are used in applications including food assays, microbial growth, cellular analysis and high throughput screening.

The firm employs 110 people at its headquarters and five subsidiaries in Australia, France, UK, Japan, and the US.

More than 50 distributors provide product, technical and software support globally.
