Perten has acquired a Netherlands-based manufacturer of analyzers and testing equipment for milk and dairy products.

Delta Instruments has infrared analyzers and somatic cell counters used by dairy companies worldwide.

It has a global network of 49 distributors in more than 70 countries.

“Together our two companies offer the most complete range of milk and dairy analyzers,” said Gavin O’Reilly, managing director and CEO of Perten Instruments.

Perten, a PerkinElmer company, provides instruments for compositional and functional analysis. They measure dairy products and ingredients including stabilizers, cream, rennet, dairy powders, butter, cheese and whey products.

The product range includes NIR instruments for at-line and on-line use, texture analyzers and rheology equipment.

Pete Emond, managing director of Delta Instruments, said the synergies of the two companies fit well.

“The strength of the Perten sales and service organization coupled with access to the functional and on-line analyzers will be of real benefit to our dairy customers worldwide,” he said.

PerkinElmer acquired Perten Instruments for $266m in 2014 to expand in food testing.

The firm had been under Valedo Partners Fund ownership since 2010 and had doubled in size through successful investments in product development and geographical expansion.
