The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) said it was told of a Salmonella Heidelberg cluster of illnesses on 12 December.
Seven case-patients at the facility have been identified with illnesses, with two resulting in hospitalization. Illness dates range from 29 November to 5 December 2013.
The firm recalled 33,840 pounds of uncooked mechanically separated chicken products which were produced on 11 October.
Products were for institutional use only, they are not available for consumer purchase in retail stores and cases have the code 17433-928 printed on the exterior label.
Tyson Foods shipped the affected product to distribution centers in California, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
