The AOAC Research Institute (AOAC-RI) approved the method extension of Performance Tested Method to include the assay for genus Listeria.
It validates the assay for detecting Listeria species in frankfurters, smoked salmon, spinach and cheese and from environmental surfaces.
DuPont’s Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes assays have received the above certification.
“Listeria testing is critical for the food industry – particularly for dairy products, fresh produce and ready-to-eat meats – as an indicator that harmful L. monocytogenes may be present,” said Troy Ayers, Americas sales leader for Diagnostics, DuPont Nutrition & Health.
“Accurate, reliable and flexible testing for Listeria is a priority for these industries to quickly detect and help eliminate pathogens that could lead to serious public health concerns.”
The DuPont BAX System X5 provides automated PCR-based DNA amplification and automatic pathogen detection for up to 32 samples at a time.
It is designed to offer the same pathogen detection workflow but in a smaller lightweight construction.
The BAX System X5 handles 32 samples compared to the 96 of the Q7 system.
